A high school diploma is a certificate awarded to a student for the completion of the secondary level of education or high school. A high school diploma is awarded by the educational institution during the graduation rites.
Depending on the school, the designs of a high school diploma differs. However, regardless of the design, there are certain information are always present in a high school diploma. The name of the educational institution is always a part of the diploma. Some schools include their logos on the certificate wherein it is printed along side or just below the school's name. Receiving a high school diploma has become a significant rite towards adulthood as this document signifies that the student has successfully completed the basic education which is required by the government for the youth. This is commonly awarded during a graduation ceremony where in the name of the student is called out. The student then walks in the stage to receive their diploma.
In many countries, a high school diploma is an important requirement for an individual to be employed. Countries such as the United States and Canada considers a high school diploma as the minimum education required to obtain a job in certain companies.
